Welcome to the NEW Partnering Works Community!
For those visiting for the first time, welcome! If you have visitied this site prior to the conference, you’ll notice there are a few changes in progress.
The Partnering Works Conference held in Seattle on September 26, was a great success! We would like to take this opportunity to thank the following groups that were instrumental in the success of the conference:
- The host, the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of the Pacific Northwest.
- Dozens of outstanding Partners, far to many to list here.
- Business to Business Matching participants, also too many to list here.
- The Conference Planning Committee.
Re-Purposed Site
PartneringWorks.org is committed to building a community that works to unite a diverse business community, locally and globally. While the site was originally set up to support the needs for the Conference, it is now being transitioned to fulfill a more significant goal: building an online business community and portal consisting of the following types of entities:
- Large Enterprises
- Small, Minority, and Women-Owned Businesses
- Government Entities
- Business Service Providers
Here, we intend to address some of the major challenges that we have learned about from all of the Partners, as we work together to increase Small and Minority Business contracting opportunities and build prosperity and economic growth:
- Business and Government entities searching for small and diverse contractors are challenged to find qualified contractors. Generally, they rely on their unique internal processes to manage their lists of potential contractors. Unless contractors take the steps to apply as a certified vendor, they will not be considered.
- Virtually every large enterprise and government entity posts contracting opportunities on a separate website. It would seem this would be an easy problem to solve!
- Qualified Contractors are everywhere! Unfortunately, each large business and government entity generally uses a stand-alone system for managing contractor data. These systems rely on generally redundant contractor data being input, one system at a time.
- With limited time in a day, contractors must choose, and choose wisely. They must take time to submit essentially the same information, over and over and over again, to various organizations. Worse, it needs to be updated on a regular basis. The process is inefficient, time consuming, and does not add value to the economy. It doesn’t need to be this way!
- Smaller contractors often need to team up with other contractors to achieve the scale needed to meet contract requirements. Outside of personal networks, there is no central system to turn to where contractors can learn about other firms with complementary capabilities that are open to teaming up.
The good news is that the vast majority of our partners, when asked about these issues, agree that an information technology solution along the lines of what is envisioned for this site can and will make a positive difference.
